How ECMWF Routing handles your data

Google Drive access is used only to exchange the tool's own operational files. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party access.

This notice covers ECMWF Routing, the private weather-routing tool described on its page. It is short because the tool serves one operator and holds no data about anyone else.

What the tool accesses

ECMWF Routing connects to Google Drive solely to run its weather-routing workflow. It reads the operational input files it is given — the vessel's reported position and the selected route — and writes the files it generates: forecasts, passage timelines and route risk products. It does not read, catalogue or modify anything in the account beyond these operational files.

What the tool does not do

  • data is not sold, rented or exchanged;
  • data is not used for advertising or profiling of any kind;
  • Google Drive access is not shared with third parties — the files are processed on the operator's own rented server infrastructure, and no other party is given access;
  • OAuth credentials and tokens are stored on that server and are never published or passed on.

Limited use

ECMWF Routing's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention

Operational files are kept for as long as the passage they describe needs them; superseded forecast products are pruned routinely. Revoking the tool's access in the Google account ends its ability to read or write anything.
